Story of Guru Nanak Jayanti  :-

Guru Nanak was born on the full moon of the month of Kartik in 1469 in Talwandi, Raibhoi, Pakistan. The Gurudwara was built at his birthplace now known as Nankanasahib in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

About Guru Nanak:-

Guru Nanak (1469–1539), also known as Baba Nanak, was the founder of Sikhism and the first of the Ten Sikh Gurus.

Guru Nanak Dev spread the message of "Ek Omkar" meaning God is one and omnipresent.

Facts about Guru Nanak Dev Ji :-

1. Father Nanak Ji founded the world's smallest religion in the last thousand (1400) years after the birth of Jesus Christ and about a thousand years after the birth of Islam.

2. Talwandi, now known as Nankana Sahib (Punjab, Pakistan) in honor of Guru Nanak Devi who was born here.

3. According to legend, Nanak was named after his elder sister Nanak.

4. At the age of seven, Baba Nanak began his education under Pandit Gopal, who ran a school for village children.

5. Nanak had a special corner in his heart for his neighbor Syed Hasan. Syed Hasan introduced Nanak to Maulana Qutb-ud-Din. The learned Maulana not only taught them Persian and Arabic but also introduced them to the great things of the Qur'an and Islam.

6. Nanak also worked as a merchant in Sultanpur, the private estate of Nawab Daulat Khan Lodhi.

7. Guru Nanak's first words after enlightenment were: God is one. No Hindus, no Muslims.

During Guru Nanak Dev Ji's lifetime, women in India had few rights. Widows are often burned alive when their husbands are burned, and women are not allowed to marry someone else. Guru Nanak Dev preached against this discrimination and called for improving the dignity of women.

They have different names in different cultures:-

Guru Nanak Dev Ji is revered in many different cultures and thus given different names. In Afghanistan, he is often called Nanak Pir. He is also known as Nanak Rishi in Nepal, Baba Nanak in Iraq, Nanak-Charaya in Sri Lanka, and Nanak Lama in Tibet. These are just a few examples.
